Ruby Mae Hinson

Ruby Mae Elmore Hinson, 89, of Statesville, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Autumn Care in Statesville. Mrs. Hinson was born in Cabarrus County on June 8, 1928, and was the daughter of the late William Ross Elmore and Bessie Eller Burgess Elmore. She attended Rowan county schools and on March 24, 1945, she married Lloyd Donald Hinson who preceded her in death on January 3, 1995. She was self-employed as owner\operator of the Amoco Service Station up until her retirement. Ruby was very proud to be self-employed. She considered it one of her highest achievements. Ruby was also very devout in her faith in God and loved reading her Bible and teaching. She was an animal lover and enjoyed her flowers. Nothing in life compared to her grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. Along with her parents and husband Lloyd, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Lackey, two brothers, Clifford and William Elmore and a sister, Alice Elmore. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Geraldine Houston, two granddaughters, Laura Sharpe (Mike Huie) of Olin and Stephanie Johnson (Kenny), two grandsons, Troy Hinson (Jamie) and Craig Sharpe (Jessica), all of Statesville. She is also survived by two great-grandsons Christopher and Nicholas Hinson, three great-granddaughters, Lydia and Emily Sharpe and Kylie Johnson, all of Statesville. She is further survived by three sisters, Nellie Terrell of McLeansville, NC, Louella Davis, and Peggy Summers and her son, Keith Bradshaw, all of Statesville. Graveside funeral services for Ruby Hinson will be conducted 3:00 PM Friday, November 3 in the Iredell Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Moore officiating.
