Mrs. Ruby Hartness Joines, 76, formerly of Statesville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at her home in Greenville, SC. Mrs. Joines was born April 16, 1940 in Rowan County and was the daughter of the late Allie and Lela Tilley Hartness. She attended schools in Alexander County and was married to the late Jimmy Eugene Joines, who died August 16, 2012. She was a certified nursing assistant, having worked for Davis Hospital for over 30 years and was retired from Greenville Memorial Health System in Greenville, SC. She is survived by three sons, Timothy Joines of Statesville, Kenneth Joines of Hickory, Jack Joines of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Patsy Woodard and Sharon Bowers, both of Myrtle Beach, SC, three grandchildren, Jarrett Joines (Anais), Lea Smith, Casey Bowers; three great grandchildren, Brantley Smith, Andruw Joines, Alana Joines; one sister, Maxine McHargue and two brothers, Ralph and Gene Hartness. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Harold Hartness, Mildred Anderson and Jerusha Nance. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Bright Light Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Jarrett Joines, Keith Hartness, Billy Glenn, James Hartness, Chris McHargue and Patti Head. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 2411 N.
