Ruby Cecille Hass

Mrs. Ruby Cecille Honeycutt Hass, 90, of Statesville, died Friday, September 9, 2016. She was born in Mooresville on August 14, 1926 to Thomas Moody Honeycutt, Sr., and Lettie Juanita Chester Honeycutt. She graduated from Central High School in Mooresville and was also a graduate of the H. F. Long Hospital School Of Nursing in Statesville as an R.N. From there her work time was working on One North O.B. at Iredell Memorial Hospital the first day the hospital opened. Ruby worked there until she went into occupational nursing for 26 years for Beaunit and Burlington Industries. Ruby was active in the Foothills Occupational Nurses Association and became a Certified Occupational Health Nurse in Iredell County. She was one of the first 3 industrial nurses in Iredell County. She co-edited the state O.C.N. magazine for one year. She was also a long time active member of the Town And Country Garden Club. Ruby became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in 1949 and loved her church and the people who attended there. She helped by serving on the communion committee, taught Sunday school, and helped with vacation Bible school. Ruby helped organize the Chipley Ford 4H club which had 18 members, and she was 4H leader for several years. She loved to cook, garden, flowers, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her greatest love was to be able to help someone in need. She was married to Byron Gwyn Hass on November 19, 1949 who passed away on September 29, 2010. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas M. Honeycutt, Jr. (Mae), Russell Honeycutt (Gladys) and Adrian Guy Honeycutt (Annie) and sisters, Rachel Honeycutt (Ralph), Evelyn Honeycutt Johnson (Smiley, and Mary P. Honeycutt. She loved her children: Karen Campbell (Roy), Laura Jean Goodson (Hollis), Lanny Hass (Sabrina) and Joyce Ann Hobbs (Randy). Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Scott Bell (Amy), Wesley Bell (Beth), Chad Goodson (Caroline), Ryan Goodson (Ashley), Molly Hass, Megan Cummings (Philip) She also had great grandchildren who she loved and liked to spend time with: Preston and Faith Bell, Addison and Katelyn Bell, Hailey Holleman, Sadie Goodson and Cason Cummings. She is also survived by a brother, Robert Milas Honeycutt of Jacksonville, Fla. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Duncan officiating. The family will visit with friends in the church sanctuary for one hour prior to the service. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com.
