Rosanna Arey

Rosanna Deal Arey, 73, passed away on October 21, 2015 at The Earl B Hadlow Center for Caring, Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida. Rosanna was born on April 11, 1942 in Stony Point, NC, to John Hall Deal and Evelyn Deal. Rosanna grew up in Statesville, NC. She graduated from Celeste Henkel High School in Statesville, NC. After high school she graduated from Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. She also graduated from the Medical Record Administration Program at Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. Rosanna married Jeffrey Marvin Arey in 1963 in Stony Point, NC. They were happily married for over 52 years. Rosanna was a member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church where over the years she volunteered teaching Sunday School, leading the youth group and was a member of PEPS. She was also an active member of the Presbyterian Women and an honorary life member. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, volunteering at her church, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also served as an officer in numerous professional organizations. Rosanna was a homemaker for many years caring for her three children and husband. She began her career in Jacksonville at Baptist Hospital in Medical Records. She later moved to St. Lukes Hospital as Medical Records Administrator and then Quality Assurance Coordinator/Patient Advocate at the Mayo Clinic where she retired in 2004. Rosanna is survived by her spouse Jeffrey Marvin Arey of Jacksonville, FL her daughters Vicki and husband Rhett Morgan, of Tampa, FL; Amy and husband David Davis of Vienna, VA her son Keith and wife Jennifer Arey, her sisters Sue and husband James Hawn of Newton, NC, Joyce and husband Burl Carr of Statesville, NC., her grandchildren, Wesley Watson, Austin Arey, A. J. Arey, and Ashely Morgan, and her niece Pamela Garrison, and her nephew Bryan Carr, nephew Brian Hawn; her Aunts Jewell Deal of Fuquay- Varina, NC ,Thelma Keever, Louise and husband Erby Norton and Olene Deal all of Statesville, NC her cousin Craig and wife Robin Deal of Fuquay-Varina, NC her great niece and nephew Mallory and Ross Garrison of Statesville, NC. Honorary Pallbearers include James Robinson, James Hawn, Rhett Morgan, Bryan Carr, David Davis, Allan Garrison, Burl Carr and Craig Deal. A memorial service will be held at New Sterling ARP Church in Stony Point, NC on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 11am with Rev. Tim Watson and Rev. Terance A. Lucarelli officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:30 until 11:00 am at the church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville, NC.
