Rosalie Mccreary

Mrs. Rosalie Barkley McCreary, 94, of Statesville, passed away, Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. McCreary was born January 23, 1921 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Hugh Alexander Barkley and Ruby Munday Barkley. She attended Iredell County schools and on May 24, 1952, she was married to the late Luther Lee McCreary, Sr. She was a member of Bristol Drive Baptist Church and was retired from Davis Hospital. Mrs. McCreary is survived by three children, Wayne A. Sherrill (Kathy) of Statesville, Peggy Alexander (J. Fred) of Sanford, NC, Luther Lee McCreary, Jr. of Statesville, three sisters, Jane Robbins, Katrina Millsaps, Pauline Mitchell and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Barbara Sherrill, Cindy McCreary, Bill Sherrill and four siblings, May Hooper, Dorothy Smith, Hazel Rodgerson and Hubert Barkley. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with visitation to begin at 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Rd. Statesville, NC 28625. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Rosalie McCreary.
