Rosa Tomlin Mclelland

Rosa Phillips Tomlin McLelland, 94, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Maryland on April 17, 1924 to the late Lawrence B. and Carrie Hoover Phillips.



Rosa was a graduate of Troutman High School, Mitchell College, and the Davis Hospital School of Nursing. She was first married to John Perry Tomlin, who preceded her in death on September 13, 1997 and then was married to Floyd L. McLelland who preceded her in death on November 4, 2008. Rosa worked at Davis Hospital for years and later retired from J.C. Penney Distribution Center where she worked as the Occupational Nurse. She was a member of the Golden Age Club, Red Hatters, BPW and Davis Hospital Alumni. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joyful Seniors. Rosa loved and cherished every minute of life, her family, and numerous friends.



Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Patsy T. Nicholson (Danny) of Valdese, NC and Brenda Tomlin-Aubrey (Peter) of Pawleys Island, SC; a step-daughter, Delane M. Porter (Eddie) of Statesville; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and many friends.



Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Johnson and Rev. Joey Tomlin officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:45pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
