Roland Alton Mcdaniel

Roland Alton McDaniel, 65, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 15, 1951 in Laurinburg, NC to the late Samuel Roland and Rosa Christine Ikner McDaniel. Alton joined the Marine Corps after high school serving for four years then enlisted in the Navy and served 16 years. He married Rita Ann Schuetrumpf on June 19, 1981 and they enjoyed over 35 years of marriage before his passing. After his service to his country, Alton was a truck driver then was employed by Freightliner as an electrical technician. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rita; one daughter, Becky Harig (Brett); one son, David McDaniel (Andrea); and one grandson, Will Harig, all of Statesville. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Totherow officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 am.
