Roger Sharpe

Roger Dale Sharpe, 66, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Iredell County on June 27, 1948 to the late Boyd Lee and Margaret Virginia Hefner Sharpe. Roger was educated in the Iredell County Schools and in 1977, he married Saralena Sue Teetor Sharpe, who survives. They had over 36 years of marriage before his passing. He was retired from G & G Lumber Company after 36 years of service as a tree debarker. He was a long time member of New Prospect Baptist Church. Roger loved being out in nature, coon hunting and bear hunting. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son USMC Lance Corporal Johnathan Dale Sharpe who died in 2009 and a nephew, Radell Sharpe. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Saralena; a daughter, Amy McDaniel (Mac); two grandsons, Sean and Taylor McDaniel; a brother, Billy Sharpe (Peggy); a sister, Margaret Mencer (Eddie); two nieces, Jada Sharpe and Allison Linebarger (Jonathan); a great nephew and niece, Evin and Megan Linebarger; and his beloved rat terrier, Uney Bob. Funeral services for Mr. Sharpe will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014 at New Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Byrd, Rev. Dwight Dowell, Rev. Stroud, and Rev. Joey Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.
