Robert William Thomas

Mr. Robert "Bob" William Thomas, 85, of Statesville, passed away, Monday, October 03, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Thomas was born September 23, 1931 in Gary, IN and was the son of the late William and Olivia Thomas. He was a graduate of the University of Indiana and received his Master's degree from Notre Dame University. In 1953, he married Martha Thomas and also served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. Bob loved art and was an art teacher for 40 years in South Bend, IN. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Ronald Thomas (Sandra) of MI, Terry Thomas (Sally) of MI, John Thomas (Sherree) of OH, Timothy Thomas of TN; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Thomas. A gathering of friends will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
