Mr. Robert Lee "Bob" Dalton, Sr., 73, loving husband, father, and friend, departed this life to be with Jesus on October 11, 2015, at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Logan County, WVA on November 21, 1941, and was the son of the late James Marion Dalton and Vivian Ruth Tiller Dalton. Bob cherished his relationship with God and his family above all else. He had no fear of death because he had the assurance of salvation. His main concern was always the wellbeing of his family. He was known for his strong work ethic and carried this out until his health failed him. He was married for many years to Jill Lambert Dalton. They were the light of each other's life's. They took their marriage vows very seriously and stood by each other in sickness and health. Bob endured three battles with cancer and other illnesses and persevered. He never complained about his lot in life because he knew God was with him. His pride and joy and the light of his life were his grandchildren. Knowing they were there is what gave him the will to go on. Bob was of the Baptist faith and disability retired from Jantzen. At age 50, Bob attended Mitchell Community College and received his GED. This was a major accomplishment in his life and felt strongly that if anyone wanted to work to get a GED, they should have all the help needed to get it and so he volunteered his time to help others by tutoring at Mitchell Community College. His faith in God and man also led him to go to New Orleans on a mission trip to help families following hurricane Katrina. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey Patrick Owens and Charles Ray Dalton. Left to cherish Bob's memory are his wife, Jill Dalton of the home, one son, Robert Lee Dalton, Jr., (Iris) of Statesville and one daughter, Tammy Dalton Parks (James) of Ormond Beach, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Sean Robert Dalton and Justin Luke Dalton, both of Statesville and Amanda Rae Yokley (Tony Robinson) and Ashley Lee Robinson, along with a great-grandson, Anakin Lee Robinson, all of Ormond Beach, FL. He is further survived by his sister, Deborah Dalton Pittman (WD) of Mocksville and mother-in-law, Mary M. Lambert of Statesville. Funeral services for Bob Dalton, Sr. will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Scott McGraw and Pastor Gene Brown officiating.
