Robert James Asbury

Robert James Asbury, 85 of Lexington, NC died Friday, April 14, 2023, at Novant Health in Lexington.

He was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on January 7, 1938, to the late Luther F. Asbury and Maggie Odell Rice Asbury. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Dale Ray Asbury.

Robert was a talker and a jokester. He loved having parties with his family, playing poker, driving, watching westerns and cowboy movies, and listening to George Jones and Conway Twitty.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Linda Smith Asbury, four sons, Robby Asbury (Debbie), Paul Asbury (Cheryl), John Asbury, Bobby Asbury, a daughter Brenda Asbury, 10 grandchildren, Chad, Andy, Bryan, Cindy, Jessie, Paisley, Jenna, Kaylee Sue, Ashley, Megan, 17 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Delvia Fowler and Ruth Pruitt.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funerals and Cremations, 1528 National Highway, Thomasville, NC 27360.
