Robert Hartness

Mr. Robert Francis Hartness, 83, of Statesville, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Iredell County on April 11, 1928 to the late James Robert and Elva Lowrance Hartness. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Aline Hartness, Eurilla Watts, and Mildred Tilley. Surviving are his wife, Donna Richburg Hartness of the home; one son, Denny Hartness and wife Cathy of Stony Point; one daughter, Joyce Logsdon and husband David of Titusville, FL. He is also survived by two sisters, Edna Grose of Statesville and Kathryn Seng of Randalstown, MD along with four grandchildren, Travis Hartness and Amanda Justus, both of Stony Point and Brian Williams and Kimberly Williams, both of Titusville, FL. He is further survived by five great-grandchildren. Mr. Hartness worked his entire life in the furniture industry until he retired and he most recently worked at Walmart for the past 12 years up until his recent illness. Mr. Hartness enjoyed working, but during his spare time, he enjoyed buying, selling, and trading. He was of the Baptist Faith. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm today at Stony Point Cemetery in Stony Point with Dr. J.B. Parker officiating. The family will visit with friends following the graveside service.
