Robert Bob Ray Kanous

Robert Ray Kanous, 79, of Statesville, passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at his home. Robert was born on August 5 , 1934 in Galien, Michigan to the late Mr. Milo Kanous and Mrs. Viva Wolkins. Robert attended Galien High School in Michigan. In 1956 he married Pat Hemphill, who survives, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Robert was a Machine Operator for Clark Equipment where he retired. Mr. Kanous is survived by a daughter, Teri Rufty (Kevin) of Stony Point; a son, Chris Kanous (Tracie) of Statesville; a sister, Shirley Snodgrass of Niles, Michigan; a brother, Larry Kanous of Galien, Michigan; and a sister-in-law, Edna Kanous of Buchanan, Michigan. He is further survived by three granddaughters, Mandi Nicole Rufty, Amber Lyn Moretz (Daniel), and Makayla Kanous; and a grandson, Landon Kanous. Funeral services for Mr. Kanous will be 2:30PM, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neal Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1:30 to 2:30 at Nicholson Funeral Home prior to the service.
