Robert "Bob" Lewis Taylor

Robert L. "Bob" Taylor, 77, of Statesville, went to see our Lord on July 6, 2017. He was born June 5, 1940 in Iredell County to the late Everett and Katie Compton Taylor. Left to cherish his memory is wife of 60 years, Billie K. Taylor. Also surviving are his children Teresa Daniels, Katie Gwaltney, Susan Browning (Rocky), Robbie Taylor; one sister, Dot Galliher and one brother, Jimmie Taylor (Vivian). He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Taylor and two sisters, Ruby Bost and Mary Frances Wilson. Also a son-in-law, Andy Daniels. Bob and Billie were married March 2, 1957. He served his Country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp. He has six grandchildren, Johnathan (Gwen), Maddie, Ronald Browning (Tara), Klent and Chase Gwaltney, Andrea Daniels; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He drove a truck at S&S Trucking and International Paper for 32 years. He later retired from the Iredell County Landfill. Bob loved life and enjoyed traveling "Out West" with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking, writing poetry, hunting and fishing. Bob loved the Lord and lived his life as an example of love and friendship to everyone. He never met a stranger and always had something to say to make you feel good and cheer you up. His legacy was passed down through his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the South River Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors. The family will visit with friends on Sunday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Johnathan Browing, Ronald Browning, Klent Gwaltney, Chase Gwaltney, Ernie Taylor, Adam Christopher and Andy Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Price, Randy Galliher, Keith Wilson, Jeremy Lockman and Tim Bost. Memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House and online condolences may be made to the family at www.nicholsonfunerals.com Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Bob Taylor.
