Richard Samuel Steele

Mr. Richard Samuel Steele, 67, of Harmony, passed away, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Steele was born February 5, 1949 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Gurnie Samuel Steele and Marion Queen Steele. He attended Harmony High School, later received his GED in 1992 and served in the U.S. Army. On February 19, 1971, he was married to Patricia Gail Lackey Steele, who survives of the home. He was retired from River Valley Animal Foods in Harmony, loved woodworking, loved his family and especially loved his black lab, Jake. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Linda S. Blackburn of Harmony, Kerry Allgood (Mike) of Hamptonville, one son, Michael Steele (Loren) of Harmony; six grandchildren, Adrienne Steele (Jake), Amber Allgood, Brandon Allgood, Jenny Steele, Thomas Blackburn, Anabelle Blackburn, one sister, Judy Ward (Ken), one brother, Steve Steele (Anita) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Holland and Jeanne Shook. Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Rev. Ervel Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Friday morning 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
