Richard Lee Williams

Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Richard Lee Williams, 66, of Troutman, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at his residence. He was born on February 13, 1952 in Iredell County to the late Mary Bost Williams and Johnny Hildred Williams.



Richard was a graduate of South Iredell High School and married the love of his life, Debra Sherrill on August 23, 1975. They shared almost 43 wonderful years together. Richard was disability retired from G.L. Wilson. He was a kind and gentle man with a sensitive heart that never met a stranger. Richard had a love of the outdoors and adored his family.



Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Steve Williams.



Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Debbie; two loving daughters, Christina Williams and Kelly Bafford; one son, Timothy Williams (Destiney); two adopted sons, Joel Knight and Timmy Squailia; five grandchildren, Tyler Shumaker, Chance Sharpe, Jasper Williams, Justus and Shyanne Wood; two sisters, Sandy Johnson (Joe) and Kim Williams; father-in-law's, Ray Sherrill and Lonnie Sharpe; mother-in-law, Shelby Sharpe; brother-in-law, Jackson Sherrill; sister-in-law's, Cindy Proffitt and Peggy Williams; and special friends Phil and Fran Crews and Crystal Harris.



Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Courtney and Pastor Terry Tevepaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.
