Richard Lee Beckett

Mr. Richard Lee Beckett, 62, of Statesville, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Mr. Beckett was born March 19, 1954 in Hughes Creek, WV and was the son of the late Shirley Jean Long Barnes. He attended schools in W.V. and was married to Sheila Young Beckett, who survives. He was a self-employed home repair business man, who loved his children, grandchildren, southern rock and guns. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Summer B. Davies (Prince) of Marietta, GA, Joshua Beckett (Heather) of Conover, Maria Mae Beckett of Winston-Salem, Amber Jean Beckett of Statesville, 14 grandchildren, Courtney, Tiara, Elijah, Savannah, Hunter, Desrin, Trei, Qualyn (Superman), EJ, Si'ella, Uriah, Serenity, Jaleah, J-Rock, his dog Queenie and Aunt Nancy and her sons of Waynesboro, VA. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Cay-lee Elizabeth Beckett and his grandmother, who raised him, Anna Marie Louise Polly Long. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Richard Beckett.
