Richard Gustin

Richard Stephen Gustin,64, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 in his home.

Rich was born in Montgomery County, Maryland on November 14, 1958 to Walter William “Jack” Gustin and Carol Oesterle Gustin. His greatest accomplishments were receiving Jesus as his savior and his family. His grandchildren were his heart. He was always honest, trusting, loyal and positive. He was a man of integrity with a servant’s heart. He retired as General Manager at Amesbury Truth after 25 years of service. He served many organizations such as West Iredell Lions Club, Relay for Life, United Way, Statesville Chamber of Commerce, March of Dimes, Upper Room, and Energy United MAC. He always said, “It is never the wrong time to do the right thing.”

Richard is preceded in death by his father, Walter William Gustin and sister, Linda Gustin of Spartanburg, SC.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Gustin; daughters, Toney Dianne Sanchez (Isaias) and Callie Joanne Ireland (Marcus); son, William Loyd Gustin; mother, Carol Oesterle Gustin; grandsons, Gideon Joseph Sanchez, Solomon Asher Sanchez, Ephraim Stephen Sanchez and Koe Pierce Ireland; granddaughters, Selah Grace Sanchez and Sammy Jo Ireland; brother, Robert Dale Gustin (Angela Leigh).

A visitation will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 at TrueVine Worship Center from 4pm to 8pm. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at TrueVine Worship Center at 3pm with Rev. Josh Bunton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be given to TrueVine Worship Center, where he attended, served, and loved, or West Iredell Lions Club, where he served for 29 years, in his honor.
