Richard Eugene Benfield

Richard Eugene Benfield, 48, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly due to illness, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Benfield was born June 7, 1967 in Iredell County to Terry Albert Benfield and the late Sandy Meredith Sherrill. He was a graduate of West Iredell High School, class of 1985 and was retired from Pro Seal Systems of NC and his own landscaping business. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles and in his earlier years loved racing motor cross bikes with his grandpa Gene. In addition to his father, he is survived by two daughters, Samantha Benfield (James) of Statesville, Celeste Benfield of Statesville, two sisters, Terri Kilby of Statesville, Traci Williams of South Hill, VA, grandmother, Pauline Benfield of Statesville, special friend, Lynn and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Cowles Bristol III officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
