Richard Edward Anderson, Sr.

June 18, 1956 — November 16, 2017

Richard Edward Anderson, Sr, 61, was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on November 16, 2017 following a long battle with dementia. Richard is survived by his wife Karen, brother Joel, sister Lynn, son Richard, daughter Kristie, daughter in law Courtney, son in law Dan and five grandsons, Gabe, Grayson, Ryan, Reed and Nicholas. Richard was born in Washington, DC and moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida at the age of 13, where he met Karen. While life took them in different directions, they remained friends over the next nine years, until ultimately realizing they were the perfect match. They wed on January 24, 1981 and were blessed with 36 years of marriage. Richard and Karen quickly grew their family, welcoming their son, Richard, Jr and daughter Kristie in 1982 and 1984. In 1988 the family moved from Florida to Mooresville, NC and made it their permanent home. Richard worked in construction for decades and was a master craftsman, but his true passion in life was to teach as many as he could about Christ's love and mercy. Prior to the onset of his illness, Richard served for 5 years as the Pastor of New Creations Ministries, dedicated to changing lives and sharing his faith. "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!' Matt 25:21 A celebration of life ceremony will be held 5:30 pm Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Living Waters in Mooresville. The family will visit with friends following the service. Donations can be made to the Gordon Hospice House. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.nicholsonfunerals.com and Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family.
