Rev. M. Keith Miller

May 13, 1950 — May 5, 2015

Rev. M. Keith Miller, 64, of Statesville went to his heavenly home to be with Jesus on May 5, 2015 with his family gathered around his bedside at his home. He fought a good fight and kept the faith til the very end! He touched many people's lives and was a testimony of God's amazing grace throughout his journey with cancer. He preached a sermon entitled "Don't Waste Your Cancer" in many churches throughout NC and other states. He was born May 13, 1950 to the late Howard and Virginia Critcher Miller at Watauga County Hospital. He graduated from Watauga High School in 1968 and Tennessee Temple University, Chattanooga, TN in 1974. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Risk Miller, who survives, on January 18, 1969. Left to cherish his memory is a daughter, Kim LeFever (Bryan) of Statesville; son, Jeremy Miller (Michelle) of Statesville; son, Jason Miller of Statesville and nine grandchildren, Taylor LeFever, Morgan LeFever, Jaden LeFever, Hunter LeFever, Emily Miller, Brett Miller, Nathan Miller, Reece Miller and Logan Buchanan. He is also survived by a sister, Jeannie Scott (Dean) of Fleetwood, NC and a brother, Dean Miller of Boone. After graduating from Bible College in 1974, Keith was Assistant Pastor of Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC and then pastored 4 churches; Hickory Valley Baptist Church in Lenoir City, TN, Temple Baptist Church in Rockingham, NC, Bibleway Baptist Church in Boone, NC and East Side Baptist Church in Statesville. He also was Interim Pastor at 2 churches. Keith's love for missions took him to many places including Honduras, Columbia, Haiti and Brazil! Learning masonry and carpentry from his father-in-law when he was young enabled him to head up many building projects on the mission field. He also helped start a dental clinic at the Good Samaritan Baptist Mission in Honduras which was named "The Keith Miller Clinic". His main goal in life was to see people acccept Jesus as their Savior. Keith was considered a "jack of all trades" which included carpentry, plumbing, mechanics, furniture building, tile-laying, roofing, wiring, land developing and anything else requested of him. Keith had a 1999 Chevy Silverado, which he bonded with over the years that had 380,000 miles on it. We have always joked which one would outlast the other. The truck is still going! He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed family gatherings and planned many outings with the children and grandchildren. His favorite saying was "hang tight". Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at South River Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Thompson, Rev. Joey Byrd and Rev. Jeremy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lawn Cemetery in Boone, NC. The family will receive friends Friday evening 6:00-9:00 p.m. at South River Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Kim and Brian LeFever, 217 Sand Trap Dr., Statesville, NC.
