Rev. Charles Wayne Gillespie

Rev. Charles Wayne Gillespie, 82, son of the late Rev. Joe and Rebecca Gillespie, of Abbs Valley, VA. went home be with his Lord on Sunday, July 12, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born in Chatham Hill, VA. and was a Pocahontas High School graduate. He obtained degrees in Accounting and in Business Administration. He was a retired Office Manager of Southern States Feed Mill in Durham, NC, former pastor of the Eno United Methodist Church in Hillsborough, NC. , and member of the Rose Chapel UMC, Statesville, NC. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph J. Gillespie , infant Stewart J. Gillespie, and a sister Geraldine Gillespie. Rev. Gillespie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Rorrer Gillespie of the home; one daughter Dianna Gillespie Melvin and husband Tommy of Statesville, NC; three sons, Gary Wayne Gillespie and wife Linda from Chillicothe, Ohio, Mark Alan Gillespie and wife Patty from Church Hill, TN, Paul William Gillespie and wife Sonja from Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Nancy Williams and husband Harold from Fries, VA, Janet Smith and husband Russell from Abbs Valley, VA; 9 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 7:00PM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Dennis officiating. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 5:00 until 7:00PM. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rose Chapel United Methodist Church, 813 Turnersburg Highway, Statesville, NC 28625.
