Mrs. Verina "Renny" Earlene Estes Perry, 59, of Statesville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 9, 2014, following a brief illness. Renny was born on November 1, 1954, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Sam Estes and L.V. Pope Estes. She was a graduate of Iredell County schools and on July 25, 1974, she was married to Charles "Charlie" Perry, who survives. She was formerly employed with Sara Lee Intimates Apparel where she worked in the Computer Marking department. Renny was a member of Bethlehem UMC and she would help with meals for members of the church during their time of loss. Renny, or "Grammy" as she was known by her grandchildren, was a devoted wife, mother, Grammy, and she took care of her grandchildren until her health would no longer allow. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, David Estes. Along with her husband, Charlie, Renny is survived by one daughter, Crystal Perry Atkins (Ellis) of Statesville and one son, Brian Perry (Lori) of McCordsville, IN. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ashleigh and Charleigh Atkins, Kelsen and Gracie Perry, Braydon McNeely, and Austin Green. She is further survived by four brothers, Gene Estes, Richard Estes, Jeffrey Estes, and Michael Estes along with three sisters, Fredna E. Reagin, Gayle E. Bruce, and Brenda E. Plott. Funeral services for Renny Perry will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Bethlehem UMC with Rev. Cokie Bristol, Rev. Josh Sherfey, and Rev. Olin Isenhour officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem UMC Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home and at other times will be assembled at the home of her daughter, Crystal Atkins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethlehem UMC, 607 Bethlehem Rd, Statesville, North Carolina 28677.
