Reggie Stroud

Reggie Allen Stroud, 49, of Statesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Serenity House in Mooresville, surrounded by family and special friends. Reggie was born July 11, 1961 in Iredell County and was the son of Betty Alexander Elam and the late James Allen Stroud. He was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School. He was disability retired, having worked for Fire Fly Balloons and Bali for many years. Reggie loved playing bass guitar and was a contributing founder of local bands Stalker and Bloated Possum. In addition to his father, Reggie was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Carl Rochester, Sr., and his stepfather, James Elam. Reggie is survived by his mother, Betty Alexander Elam of Mooresville; three sisters, Sandy S. Rochester and Robin S. Reynolds (Mark), both of Statesville, and Penny S. Ludwig (Robbie) of Mooresville. Two stepsisters also survive him, Pam Carpenter of Mooresville and Sandy Warlick of Charlotte, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Duncan officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 2:30 until 3:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Benge, Tim Head, Dean Lunsford, Carl Rochester, Jr., Eric Wilson, Jeff Rumple, Robbie Sells, and Roger Alexander. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the band Stalker and Bloated Possum. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to special friends Mandy and Dean Lunsford, Roger Alexander, Rebecca Teeter, and June Mauney and The Serenity House in Mooresville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to Carolina Comfort Coalition, 110 Centre Church Road, Mooresville, N.C. 28117.
