Rachel Lee Harrison

Mrs. Rachel Lee Josey Harrison, 92, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Harrison was born in Iredell County on August 16, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Coite Lee and Lillie Mae Gryder Josey. She attended Statesville city schools and was married to Hal Worth Harrison, who preceded her in death on August 4, 1980, Mrs. Harrison worked for many years with Beauty Maid Mills and was a member of Front Street Baptist Church. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching all the games. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harley Josey and a sister, Ramona J. Hartsel. Mrs. Harrison is survived by a son, Rev. Ronald H. Harrison (Sandy) of Statesville; two grandsons, Chris Harrison (Brenda) of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Rev. Dr. Brad Harrison (Amy) of Leland, NC and a granddaughter, Michelle Lourcey (Don) of Statesville. She is also survived by two great-grandsons, Kyle Harrison of Okeechobee, FL and Caleb Harrison of Leland, NC along with three great-granddaughters, Brittany Kraft (Justin) of Tallahassee, FL, Elizabeth Lourcey of Statesville, and Abby Harrison of Leland, NC. A graveside service for family and friends celebrating the life of Rachel Harrison will be conducted at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 22, 2015, in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Tim Stutts, Rev. Dr. Brad Harrison, and Chris Harrison officiating. The family will speak with friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Front Street Baptist Church, 1403 W. Front Street, Statesville, NC 28677.
