R. L. Fox

Mr. R L Fox, 83, of Statesville, died Monday, November 2, 2015 at Mapleleaf Health Care Center. Born in Iredell County on May 23, 1932 he was a son of the late Charlie Fox and Bertha Hedrick Fox. He was the last of 11 children in his family. Mr. Fox worked in textiles and was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church. He enjoyed his family, the outdoors and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Mae Dixon Fox on November 17, 2012. Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Fox (Louise) and a daughter, Sandra Benfield (Mike) all of Statesville, grandchildren: Amy Gregory Slattery (Calvin Huff), Lori Jackson (Aaron), Heather Skinner, Justin Benfield (Kim), Joshua Benfield, Gena, Owen and Olivia Huff. Also surviving are great grandchildren: Josiah Benfield and Skylin Benfield. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday at New Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mason, Rev. Brian St. John and Rev. Mike Benfield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
