Polly Wright

Mrs. Pauline "Polly" Beulah Summerford Wright, 91, of Statesville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Wright was born March 19, 1922 in Union County, SC and was the daughter of the late William J. Summerford and Lizzie Gibson Summerford. She attended school in Pageland, SC and on March 20, 1939, she married John Pierce Wright, who preceded her in death on March 2, 1969. She was formerly employed with Beaunit Mills until her retirement and she was a lifelong member of Front Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Summerford and two sisters, Ethel Summerford and Cleo S. Hogan. Mrs. Wright is survived by one daughter, Shirley Wright Sechrist (Barry) of Statesville and two sons, John W. Wright (Beverly) of Mocksville and Jerry D. Wright of Statesville. She is also survived by six grandsons, Rusty Arrington (Jenny) of Troutman, David Wright (Terri) of Mooresville, Steve Wright, Jerry D. Wright, Jr, and Rob Sechrist (Amy), all of Statesville and Jon Merrell (Den) of Salisbury along with one granddaughter, Elizabeth Lewis (Mark) of Raleigh. She is further survived by seven great-grandchildren, Savannah, Kayla, Kelsie, and Trenton Wright and Cade and Kileigh Sechrist and Zack Lewis. A sister, Mary Wilson of Clayton along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wright will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Front Street Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Stutts, Rev. Marvin Boyer and Rev. Jeff Luxom officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
