Polly Elaine Sharpe, beloved daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on April 9, 2025, in Statesville, NC. Born on May 10, 1946, in Iredell County, NC, Polly lived a life characterized by compassion, family dedication, and a relentless pursuit of her passions.
From a young age, Polly exhibited a tender heart and a nurturing spirit, naturally leading her towards a career as a caregiver. She dedicated countless hours to supporting those in need, offering kindness and comfort in equal measure. Her role extended beyond that of a professional caregiver; Polly was also a devoted family caregiver, always ready to lend a hand or an ear to her loved ones.
A stalwart participant of Union Grove U.M.C., Polly found joy and fulfillment in her community and spiritual life. Her thirst for knowledge and love of stories were evident in her passion for reading, a pastime she pursued fervently throughout her life. Her interest in family genealogy showcased her deep appreciation for history and her roots, spending countless hours piecing together the intricate tapestry of her ancestry.
Polly's academic journey took her through Union Grove High School, from which she graduated with steadfast determination, before attending Mitchell Community College. Her educational pursuits further reflected her commitment to personal growth and development.
Preceded in death by her parents, Noel Dent Sharpe and Ruth Johnson Sharpe, as well as siblings J.D., Noel, William, and Jerry Sharpe, and sister Irene Coleman, Polly's legacy continues through those who survive her. Her brother Dennis Sharpe and his wife Lesa, brother-in-law Roger Coleman, sisters Joy Baugus and her husband Wendell, Esther Milan, Sharon Davis Sharpe and her husband Max, and Ramona Roberts and her husband Carl, carry forward her memory. Polly also leaves behind 13 nephews and 3 nieces, each of whom will cherish her love and wisdom.
