Phillip Hamilton

Mr. Phillip Freeman Hamilton, 54, of Statesville, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC Mr. Hamilton was born in Catawba County on December 31, 1959, and was the son of Alma Freeman Hamilton and the late Robert B. Hamilton. He was a graduate of Hickory High School and he received his Associates in Applied Science from CVCC in Emergency Medical Science. On February 27, 1994, he married Carol Alexander Hamilton, who survives. Mr. Hamilton was an avid Ham Radio enthusiast and he received his license when he was 15 years old. He worked as a radio DJ and sports at WHKY, worked 12 years with the Iredell County EMS, and RX Care Assurance sales since 1998. In addition to his hobby with Ham Radio, he was also the creator of the Facebook page, "You Might Be From Hickory If... ", and enjoyed taking and collecting pictures while traveling on the road selling insurance. His interest include music by Fleetwood Mac, the Atlanta Braves, and Facebook. In addition to his mother Alma and his wife Carol, he is survived by two daughters, Laura Lynn Evans (Jameson) of Johnson City, TN, and Jenny Blevins Eckliff (William) of Statesville and one son, Patrick Andrew Blevins of Statesville. He is also survived by grandchildren, Elizabeth Lynn Evans, Noah Tyler Eckliff, and Dylan Cooper Eckliff. He is further survived by one brother, Robert B. Hamilton, Jr. (Mary) of Hickory along with one niece and one nephew. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hamilton will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at First ARP Church with Rev. Philip McCoy officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM in the church fellowship hall.
