Irma Corinne Daniels "Pat" McJunkin, 89, of Statesville, died Saturday, August 24, 2013. A Memorial Service to celebrate her special life will be held Wednesday at 2PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Scott officiating. Pat graduated from Harmony High School and Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, NC. She worked at the NC State Orthopedic Hospital for Children in Gastonia, the Iredell County Extension Office and served as secretary at First Presbyterian Church. Pat was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving in a number of ways including circle, church school, Women of the Church and was among the first female elders of the church. Most people remember her work on the church welcoming committee, often being the first person from the church to visit them. Pat served on the Board of Directors for Kings Grant Retirement Community and was very active with book club and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. In 1955-56 she was president of the Junior Service League. She served on the Advisory Board of the Children's Home Society and was active with American Red Cross Blood Drives. She enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, needle point, playing bridge and spending as much time as possible at Sunset Beach. Pat was gracious, generous and unwavering in her faith in Jesus Christ. Pat was born April 1, 1924 in Ferndale, Michigan, then grew up in Harmony, NC. She was the daughter of James Carr and Rhetta Douglas Daniels. She was married to Eugene Houston "Mac" McJunkin on June 2, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1995. Her brothers, John Alexander "Jack" Daniels of Salisbury, NC and Dr. James Douglas Daniels of Blythewood, SC also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons Jim McJunkin (Jeff Standley) of Charlotte and John McJunkin (Jeff Brown) of the home. Her three grandchildren include Andi McJunkin (Ben Watkins) and their daughters Emma and Zoe of Charlotte, Jayme Williams (Dan) and their sons Evan and Tyler of Statesville and Samantha McJunkin of Charlotte. She is also survived by sister-in-law Marie Daniels of Blythewood, SC and Marie's children Chris Daniels (Teri) and their sons Christopher, Justin and Roo of Columbia, SC; Greg Daniels of Athens, GA; and Dr. Susan Daniels Henderson (The Rev Kyle Henderson) and their children John Douglas and Catherine from Cheraw, SC. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Margaret McJunkin of Columbus, IN and her children Dr. William McJunkin of DeKalb, IL and Jane Ellen McJunkin Homer (Paul) of Columbus, IN. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Rob McJunkin (Hilda) and their daughter Juanita Melton of Alto, GA. Jim and John would like to thank all who helped her as her health declined including Bonita Allison, Sabrina Best, Crystal Hart, Lynn Daniels, Lotoya Daniels, Ashley Cook, Brandi Holman and Brendel Horne. The family will be gathered at 624 Dogwood Road, Statesville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
