Pat Akers

Patricia Barnette Akers, 67, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Akers was born April 24, 1943 in Alexander County and was the daughter of the late John Albert Barnette and Lucy Campbell Barnette. She attended Alexander and Iredell County Schools and was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School. On February 9, 1962 she was married to Arndle Ray Akers, who preceded her in death on August 16, 2008. Mrs. Akers was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and she was a homemaker. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Akers was also preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Barnette Lambert along with one granddaughter, Heather Bevis. Mrs. Akers is survived by two daughters, Pamela A. Hilderbran of Statesville and Sheila A. Eades (Wayne) of Supply, N.C.; one granddaughter, Tonya Akers; two grandsons, Lee Bevis III and Jeffery Eades II; one great-granddaughter, Haley Bevis, and two great-grandsons, David Bevis and Kirklin Chambers, all of Statesville; one sister, Faye Barnette Green of Statesville and one brother, Robert Barnette of Vasti, N.C. along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Roger Holland officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.
