Mrs. Odessa Spears McClure, 70, of Statesville, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. McClure was born March 13, 1941 in Wilkes County, NC and was the daughter of the late William Henry Spears and Ora Dell Griffin Spears. She attended Wilkes and Iredell County Schools and received her CNA degree from Mitchell Community College. On January 10, 1959, she was married to Edward Lee McClure, who survives of the home. She was a member of South River Baptist Church, was a retired supervisor for Niemand Industries for 29 years and was a CNA at Iredell Memorial Hospital for 10 years. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and loved spoiling her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Ricky Lee McClure (Jeanna) of Statesville, two grandchildren, Scott Lee and Kathryn Marie McClure, a special niece, Diane Northcutt of Mobile, AL and three sisters, Pearl S. Wyatt of Wilkes Co., Arvie S. Neaves of Mobile, AL and Dell S. Dancy of Wilkes Co., NC. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Everette Spears and five sisters, Nola Miller, Dollie Miller, Etoy Griffin, Gladys Wyatt and Ola Mae Hamby. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 at South River Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Wicker, Rev. Mitchell Rash officiating. Rev. Tommy McClure will officiate at the graveside following in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at South River Baptist Church. Active pallbearers will be Jack Huffman, Waylan Reynolds, Chuck Stroud, Ken Marsh, Marty Waugh, Chad Hamby and Matthew Miller. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
