Norman Gant Penry

Greensboro- Mr. Norman Gant Penry, 93, of Greensboro, NC passed away November 13, 2020 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Robah and Margaret Gant Penry, Norman was employed by Lorillard Tobacco Company and retired from there after 34 years of service. Norman loved working outside and conducted his own landscaping business before and after retirement. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Norman loved his church and was not only faithful in attendance but spent many hours serving in voluntary work there. He loved his country and he and his wife loved travelling through it. Mr. Penry is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Bertha Goforth Penry, children Danny Macemore (Lynn) of Summerfield and Donna Friddle (Jerry) of Summerfield, and grandchildren Daniel and Matthew Macemore of Greensboro. In addition to his parents, Mr. Penry is predeceased by brothers Harold, Clarence, Vernon, and Norris Penry, sisters Margaret Penry, Mary Reece, and Betty Gingerick, and great-grandson Jason Macemore. A graveside service for Mr. Penry will be held 1:00 pm on November 18, 2020 at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro, NC. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
