Nellie Marie Grant

Nellie Marie Dagenhart Grant, 88, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Gardens of Statesville. She was born in Alexander County on October 5, 1930 to the late Glenn Wesley and Mary Lou Elliott Dagenhart.



Nellie was a graduate of Stony Point High School where she was the Valedictorian of her class. She was married on July 5, 1947 to Henry Gerald Grant who preceded her in death on February 17, 2013. They shared almost 66 years of marriage together before his passing. She retired from Davis Hospital where she was an insurance clerk.



Along with her parents and husband, Gerald, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Lee Duncan and Carolyn Robertson, and one brother, Bruce Dagenhart.



Left to cherish her memory are one son, Jerry Grant (Gail); two daughters, Phyllis Munson (John) and Jean Gibson (Greg); two sisters, Hilda Payne and Maxine Stone (Reggie); one brother, Vaughn Dagenhart (Frances); 8 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren



Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Feb. 3, 2019 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Gary West and Rev. Steve Shoemaker officiating. A private family burial will follow. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home from 12:30 until 2:00 pm Sunday prior to the service at Grace Baptist.
