Nellie Hedrick

Nellie McFalls Hedrick, 82, of Statesville, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Gaston County on February 12, 1934 to the late June Selvin McFalls and Cora Marshall McFalls. Mrs. Hedrick attended Iredell County Schools and married Glenn Smith Hedrick on April 4, 1953. They shared over 63 years of marriage before her passing. She was co-owner and operator of Clines Motel. Mrs. Hedrick had been an active member of Eufola Baptist Church where she served as church secretary and was a Sunday school teacher. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Glenn; a daughter, Wanda Newsome (Niles); two grandsons, Derek and Brian Overcash; five great grandchildren, Hayden, Ethan, Emily, and Cody Overcash and Dylan Waters; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Hedrick will be held 2:00 pm Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Otis Johnson and Rev. Curtis White officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Derek Overcash, Brian Overcash, Mike Overcash, Darren Cook, and Niles Newsome, Jr. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.
