Nell Lundy

Nell Norris Lundy, 97, was born on Oct. 17, 1913, to William Baines and Ada Sloop Norris. She died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at home in Harmony. She was married to John Coyte Lundy on Aug. 13, 1932, in Hillsville, Va. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary prior to his death in 2002. "Nellie Frances" was one of 10 children born to the late William and Ada Norris. She was preceded in death by five siblings: Mable Martin, Mary Austin, Glenn Norris, Pearl Kennedy and Blanche Privette. Nell is also survived by one brother and three sisters: William B. (Shirley) Norris Jr., Nan (Bill) Douglas, Alma Norris and Kathleen Renegar. Sisters-in-law, Margaret Lundy and Estelle Lundy also survive. Mrs. Lundy graduated from Harmony High School in 1931. She excelled in English and won a $10 gold piece for an award-winning essay. She helped open and manage the first school cafeteria at Central School.
