Neil Mcdonald Moore

Neil McDonald (Mack) Moore died Sunday, January 03, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia after a short illness. He was born in Statesville on January 25, 1926 to Avery Harwell and Josie Lee Harwell but was soon adopted by Francis and Beulah Moore upon the death of Mrs. Harwell. He was raised in Statesville and served in the US Navy during World War II. He returned from the Navy to start his life long career in sales and marketing. He retired from Iredell (Moore) Garage Door Sales. On April 16, 1949, Mr. Moore married Nancy Elmira Waugh who preceded him in death in 2004. They raised their family in Statesville, Greenville SC, and Charlotte. Also preceding him in death are son Baby Boy Moore, son Donald Moore, two great grandchildren and numerous sisters and brothers and a special friend, Norma Watts. Survivors include daughter Jane McAulay (Frank) of Mount Holly, NC, son Jimmy Moore (Patti) of Charlotte NC, daughter Lisa Moore of Statesville, grandchildren Chris McAulay (Amy) of Stanley, NC, Amber Tuttle (Bradley) of Dallas, NC, Candice Braden (Noah) of Louisville, Kentucky, Keisha Warren, Kristen Warren and Ashley Warren, all of Statesville, 11 great grandchildren, sisters Nancy Rogers and Anne Mayberry and brother Avery Harwell, all of Statesville. He also leaves behind two very special nieces and lunch buddies Julia Tedder of Troutman and Ronnie Fox of Statesville and his McDonalds coffee club friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at Forest Park Presbyterian Church, 1026 Davie Avenue, Statesville NC. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am at the church. Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville. Memorials may be sent to the ALS Association Jim Catfish Chapter 4 N. Blount Street 2nd Floor Raleigh, NC 27601. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family.
