Nancy Bowers Adams, of Harmony, born on February 21, 1959, in Wilkes County, passed away on February 7, 2025, at her residence following a short illness. She was a vibrant soul whose contributions to her community and family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Growing up in the Trap Hill community, Nancy was well-known for her perfect attendance record throughout her academic career at North Wilkes High School, where she also showcased her resilience and dedication by serving as a school bus driver. Following her education, she embraced a career as a truck driver, which allowed her to travel extensively and experience the diverse beauty of the country she cherished.
A passionate lover of the outdoors, Nancy found joy in flower gardening, nurturing her green thumb, and creating vibrant landscapes that reflected her spirit. She also had a fondness for animals and spent countless hours in their company, reveling in their companionship. In addition to these pursuits, Nancy had a unique hobby of collecting "treasures," showcasing her inquisitive nature and delight in discovery.
A devoted member of the Baptist faith, Nancy's unwavering beliefs and values shaped her interactions with family and friends. She leaves behind a loving family, including a son, Clifford Billings, and daughter-in-law Christie, four cherished grandchildren: Kendal Billings, Jaden Billings, Hunter Mitchem, and Nathan Campbell, as well as one great-grandchild, Leo Billings. She is also survived by her brother, Tarnie Bowers.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Bowers, her mother, Gracie Sidden Bowers, and her brother, Barney Bowers, who together had greatly influenced her life.
Her warmth, dedication, and passion for life were evident in every interaction, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Nancy Bowers Adams will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on through the fond memories created with her family and friends.
The family will celebrate her life privately.
