Myrtle Sherrill

Myrtle Albertine Byers Sherrill, 93, of Statesville., Statesville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at her daughters residence on Monticello Rd., Statesville. Mrs. Sherrill was born December 12, 1917 in Alexander County and was the daughter of the late John Henry Byers and Emma Wilhelm Byers. She was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was married to the late Harold Hunter Sherrill, who died in 1958. She was a member of Island Ford Church and was a retired seamstress for Hettrick Manufacturing. Mrs. Sherrill is survived by one daughter, Marie Sherrill Holman (Billy) of Monticello Rd., one brother, Archie Byers of Stony Point; six grandchildren, Billy Holman, Jr. (Scottie), Michael Sherrill (Brenda), Timothy Sherrill (Tammy), David Sherrill (Robin), Richard Houston, Jr., Angela Hoover (Brian); 14 great grandchildren, Cole Sherrill, Taylor Sherrill, Trevor Sherrill, Kara Sherrill, Jacob Holman, Jesse Holman, Patrick Hoover, Ashley Hoover, Sydney Marie Houston, Christie Sherrill, Stephanie Sherrill, Megan Starnes, Emily Starnes and Joseph Micheal Bruce; one great great grandchild, Rylee Elizabeth Lynch; three great step grandchildren, Kelsy, Konal and Kassidy Hall, one daughter-in-law, Nancy Bustle Sherrill and one son-in-law, Richard E. Houston, Sr. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Alvin Henry Sherrill and one daughter, Kay Francis Houston. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Myrtle Sherrill.
