Myrtle Almedia Nicholson Hollar, 84, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, March 23, 2018. She was born on January 20, 1934 in Iredell County to the late Walter Cleveland Nicholson and Viola Grace Lewis Nicholson.
Mrs. Hollar was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was married to Bill Gene Hollar on December 24, 1950. They shared over 67 years of marriage before her passing. She retired from Thonet Industries after almost 30 years of service as a supervisor. Myrtle was a member of the National Association of Business Women and her home church was Grassy Knob Baptist Church. Her life was dedicated to being a good wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved everybody and everybody loved her. Myrtle was kind, loving, and compassionate to family and friends, especially children. She will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill' two sons, Rick Hollar (Dawn) and Billy J. Hollar; five grandchildren, Chris, Amy, David, Natalie, and Peter; ten great grandchildren, Sydney, Ava, Ariel, Micah, Alexis, Kayla, Hailey, Colby, Marissa, and Ryan; two brothers, Hugh Nicholson (Mamie) and Jessie Nicholson (Kay); and two sisters, Betty Milsaps and Lea Elkins (Danny).
Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Grassy Knob Baptist Church with Revs. Scott Chenevey, Joy Campbell and Keith Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:30pm.
