Myra Henderson Osborne

Myra Henderson Osborne, 92, of Union Grove, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 17, 2016. She was born in Iredell County on February 11, 1924 to the late L.C. and Josie Mitchell Henderson. Mrs. Osborne was a graduate of Union Grove High School and was hired to play basketball for Chatham Manufacturing in Elkin, NC. She travelled the east coast representing the company and worked for the company for over 40 years before her retirement. On September 18, 1943, she married Eli N. Osborne and they enjoyed almost 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2003. Mrs. Osborne was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church serving in many vital positions in the church. She dedicated her life to the Lord and her family. Along with her parents and husband, Eli, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Henderson. Left to cherish her memory are a son, Jerry Davis Osborne (Paulette); a daughter, Linda Osborne Dowell (Tommy) all of Union Grove; five grandchildren, Rhyne Dowell (Lisa) of Yadkinville, Mark Dowell (Dana) of Hamptonville, J.D. Osborne (Tamara) of Union Grove, Kevin Osborne (Jennifer) of Kings Mountain, and Derek Osborne (Suzanne) of Olin; nine great grandchildren, Andrea Dowell, Sarah Dowell, Landon Dowell, Taylor Osborne, Nicole Osborne, Eli Osborne, Ruby Osborne, Justin Miller, and Kyle Osborne; two sisters, Evelyn Conner and Alice Combs; a sister-in-law, Edith Osborne; and extended family, Johnny and Yvonne Sturdivant. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Union Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 1:00pm at the church.
