Mr. James Harold Thewlis

Mr. James Harold (Jim) Thewlis, 67, of Statesville, died in a motorcycle accident in Union County on July 1, 2021. Born in Cleveland Ohio on July 14, 1953, he was a son of the late Harold James Thewlis and Pauline Marie Welch Thewlis who survives. Jim was a retired lineman in Wilkes County for Duke Energy prior to retirement and was a Junior Rodeo sponsor, loved riding motorcycles and horses, cattle farming and was a member of the Snow Creek Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Wilkes County and Iredell County Cattleman's Associations.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Vicky Boyd Thewlis, two daughters, Shannon Carico (Eric) and Shawn Thewlis. Also surviving are two brothers, Roy Eugene Thewlis (Karol) and John Thomas Thewlis, three sisters, Debbie Matz, Dion Hampton and Beverly Reed. Additional survivors include his grandchildren: Nicholas Carico (Jessica Pope), Leann Carico and Holly Jo Carico and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Miller.

A celebration of life/memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Rose Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Camp officiating. Masonic Rites will be presented at the service. Private burial will be at a later date. The family will greet friends following the service.
