Mr. Charles Kenneth Austin

Mr. Charles Kenneth Austin, 91, of Statesville, died Friday, June 21, 2019 at his home. Born in Iredell County on August 26, 1927, he was a son of the late Carl Bagby Austin and Annie Eagle Austin. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers: James, Albert, Robert, Frank and Blake.

Kenneth formerly worked at Statesville Chair Company and Corner Hutch Furniture Co. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He also spent 20 years in the Air Force Reserve. He was a member and former treasurer of Rose Chapel United Methodist Church and was formerly a member of the Ebenezer Ruritan Club. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Carolina basketball, reading and travel.

On September 13, 1950, he married the former Louise Reves who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jim Austin (Sandy) of Mt. Ulla and Lee Austin (Donna) of Newport, N.C. Additional survivors include a brother, Lynn Austin (Margaret) of Clinton, Maryland and a sister, Esther Crosby (Victor) of Statesville. Also surviving are grandchildren: Andy Austin (Tabitha), Matt Austin (Natasha), Noelle Jones (Jamie), Jeanna Austin and Anna Lee Austin along with great grandchildren: Ashby Austin, Cole Austin, Drew Austin, Garrett Jones, Parker Jones, David Austin and Smith Austin.

Services celebrating Kenneth's life will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at Rose Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Camp officiating. He will lie in state in the church sanctuary while the family greets friends in the church fellowship hall for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
