Mr. Billy Joe Hollar

Billy Joe Hollar, 70 of Union Grove, died Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC following a brief illness.

He was born in Iredell County on August 13, 1954, to the late Billy Gene Hollar and Myrtle Nicholson Hollar.

Billy was a graduate of South Iredell High School. He worked for many years at Thonet and retired from Lowes Distribution where he was plant manager. Billy enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with his friends. More than anything, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include, a daughter, Amy McCoy, a son, Chris Hollar, three grandchildren, Sydnie McCoy, Ava Esh, Ariel DeShields, three great-grandchildren, a brother, Ricky Hollar, the mother of his children, Leann McHargue, special friend, Georgianna Hollar, several nieces, nephews, and other family members, and his beloved fur baby, Katie Girl.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Barkers Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Joey Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service. Special friends serving as active pallbearers are, Larry Nicholson, Grant Snook, Rocky Parker, Chester Godfrey, Dave Crosby, Chris Hollar and Andy Galliher and Pete Price will be honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Barkers Grove Baptist Church, 182 Barkers Grove Rd, Union Grove, NC 28689.
