Mitch Corbett

Mitchell Lorin Corbett, 73, of Statesville, passed away, Monday, March 4, 2013 at Iredell Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Corbett was born December 6, 1939 in Manning, SC and was the son of the late Lorin Corbett and Valley T. Corbett. He attended Clarendon County Schools and on November 18, 1958 was married to Connie Tuten Corbett, who survives of the home. He was a member of Eufola Baptist Church and retired in 2002 from the light department with the City of Statesville. Along with his parents, Mr. Corbett was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kay C. Ingram, a sister, Frances Berry and a son-in-law, Timmy Campbell. In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by one son, Alan Corbett (Terri), two daughters, Deby Campbell, Libby C. Ireland (Johnny), six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Eufola Baptist Church with Pastor Otis Johnson, Jr., Fred Tuten and Dave Abberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Danny Owens, Bobby Benfield, Julian Stevenson, Jerry Burke, Alex Brinkley and John Plott. Honorary pallbearers will be Talmadge Williams, Jerry Williams, Bill Pope and the men of the Light Department for the City of Statesville. The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to Dr. Pam Sholar and the nursing staff on the 1 floor at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
