Mrs. Minnie Lou Cass Dotson, 89, of Union Grove, died Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born May 2, 1928, in Wilkes County, she was a beloved daughter of the late Romas E. Cass and Ida Moore Cass. On June 16, 1951 she married Mr. James (Jim) Robert Dotson who died in 1999. She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church and formerly worked at J. P. Stevens Co. She was a Godly wife and mother. Her favorite time was spent laughing with her children and grandchildren. She was a caregiver for her parents, sister and brother. She and her church family at Sweet Home read through the Bible several times. Survivors include three daughters: Sheila D. Jolly, Sandy D. Campbell (Jim) and Pam D. Miller (Dr. Mike) all of Statesville. Also surviving are grandchildren: Brandon (Melissa) Jolly, Casey (Jennifer) Jolly, Jamie Jolly, Christian Campbell, Matt (Brittany) Miller and Krystle (Zack) Smith, great grandchildren: Tessa Jolly, Bryson Jolly, Hayden Jolly, Finnlee Miller, Farrah Miller and River Smith, along with a Brother-In-Law, Ed Dotson and a Sister-In-Law, JoAnn Weiland. She was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and 5 sisters. Services celebrating Mrs. Dotson's life will be conducted at 4 :00 P.M. Sunday at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Rev. R. C. Redmond, Jr. and Pastor Fred Legere, Pastor Gary Blalock and Pastor Jonathan Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Charles Cass, Leon Cass, Casey Jolly, Brandon Jolly, Christian Campbell, Matthew Miller , Darrell Cass and Jamie Jolly. Larry Cass will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer. The family will receive friends Saturday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at other times the family will be assembled at the home of Mrs. Pam and Dr. Mike Miller off of Monticello Rd. in Statesville.
