Mildred Bowers

Mildred Payne Bowers, 92, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Maple Leaf Health Care. She was born in Iredell County on June, 9, 1922 to the late W. P. and Geniva Moose Payne. Mrs. Bowers was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was married to Wade F. Bowers, who preceded her in death on September 9, 1982. She was manager of the school cafeteria at South Iredell High School for over 24 years before her retirement. She was an active member of South River Baptist Church. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Wade Bowers and William Barry Bowers; and two brothers, Paul and William Payne. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Kathy Rodecker (Pat) of Statesville; a son, Ray Stephen Bowers (Mary) of Auburn, California; a sister, Peggy Rucks of Florida; and a brother, Dale Payne of Stanley, NC. She is further survived by three grandsons, Patrick Von Rodecker (Jan) of Statesville, Ronald Wade Rodecker (Sharon) of Mooresville, and Ray Stephen Bowers (Audrey) of Kalispell, MT; a granddaughter, Debra Boyd (Jim) of Lincoln, California; and two great granddaughters, Layden Rodecker and Chloe Grace Fritz, both of Statesville. A graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Larry Whicker officiating.
