Mike Stroud

Mr. Michael "Mike" Wayne Stroud, 63, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Stroud was born in Iredell County on October 15, 1949 and was the son of the late James Franklin Stroud and Hester Marie Sloan Stroud. He was a graduate of North Iredell High School and he attended UNC Charlotte. On October 5, 1973 he married Fredna Bost Stroud, who survives. Mr. Stroud was a supervisor with the City of Statesville street department. Mike was a loving husband, father, papaw and friend who loved dove hunting, wood working and reading. He will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife Fredna, Mr. Stroud is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Stroud Sudman and her husband Craig of Statesville, one grandson, Luke Sudman and one granddaughter, Molly Sudman along with two brothers, J.D. Stroud (Joyce) and Randy Stroud (Susan), both of Statesville and one sister, Janet Beam (John) of Troutman. He is further survived by his brother-in-law Kenneth Lail and his wife Alice of Hickory. Graveside funeral services for Mike Stroud will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in the Abilene Church of Christ Cemetery located on Bell Farm Road, Statesville, with Dave Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
