Michael "Uncle Mike" Santford Parlier

Michael "Uncle Mike" Santford Parlier, 65, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on April 7, 1951 in Iredell County to the late Paul Santford Parlier and Ruby Nell Privette Parlier. Mike was a graduate of Statesville Senior High and Mitchell College. He worked in the family business, Parlier Plumbing and Heating which later became Parlier Mechanical of which he was co-owner. Mike was an Eagle Scout and a member of First Baptist Church. In recent years, he attended The Cove Church in Statesville and was very active in their ministry as a member of the McClelland Life Group, volunteer in the "Go Bananas Backpack Ministry," the greeting team, and the Toy Store. Mike never married but his nieces and nephew were his pride and joy. He doted on them and loved excursions with them. Mike loved traveling and being out in nature. His giving and loving nature along with his love of life endeared Mike to all that knew him. He will be missed but we know that he is Home with his Lord and Savior. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Jody Parlier (Cathy) of Statesville; two nieces, Mary Alice Lowrance (Michael) of Statesville and Catherine Curtis (Will) of Mooresville; a nephew, Braiden Parlier (Katelyn) of Statesville; a great niece, Ruby Kate Lowrance; a great nephew, Fin Curtis; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; and his faithful dogs, Jackson and Slade. A Memorial Service for Mike will be held 11:00am Friday, December 2, 2016 at The Cove Church in Statesville. The family will visit with friends following the service. A private family burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Cove Church of Statesville, 935 Crossroads Drive, Statesville, NC 28625.
