Melvin Adams

Christopher Melvin Adams, 76, of Statesville, passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born on April 19, 1938 in Iredell County to the late Clarence E. and Virginia Christopher Adams. Mr. Adams was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church. On August 11, 1956, he married Louise Crawford Adams and they shared over 58 years of marriage before his passing. He was retired from the North Carolina Department of Corrections where he was a Corrections Officer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence "Bud" Adams; a sister, Bobbie Bowers; and an infant grandson, Ray Christopher Adams. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Louise, of the home; a son, Dennis Ray Adams of Melbourne, Florida; a daughter, Susan Adams Tedder (Ricky) of Statesville; three granddaughters, Taylor Jade Adams, Selena Adams, and Lauren Tedder; two grandsons, Jay Adams and Brandon Tedder; and a sister, Gail Edwards (Bill), Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 26, 2015 at Concord Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kyle Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends in the church fellowship hall prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church, 3867 Taylorsville Hwy, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
